May 22, 2020
Dear Fairview Family,
Thank you. Throughout this unusual time, you have demonstrated your love for the Lord, His church, and our community in more ways than we can count. As a staff, we want you to know we love you and we praise God for you (Matthew 5:16). Your patience and the practice of your faith continue to bring honor to the name of Jesus.
We have been looking forward to “reGathering” as a church family. As a staff, we have been prayerfully making plans over the last several weeks for that day. We have been clinging to God’s promises and truths (Psalm 119), listening to wise counsel (Proverbs 15:22), and ultimately seeking the wisdom of God (James 1:5). After consulting with the deacons, medical professionals, our civic leaders, and other churches in our community, we are going to begin a phased approach to gathering together again on-campus on June 7.
We will be providing multiple, smaller gatherings on Sunday mornings. We will use the following schedule and locations:
- 8:00 AM Worship Center (Reserved for the “Most Vulnerable”)
- 8:45 AM Fellowship Hall
- 10:15 AM Worship Center and Livestream
To help us maximize capacity, families will sit together. We will not be providing nursery or childcare during the worship services. We encourage those, who are “Most Vulnerable” to worship from home. However, if you prayerfully choose to join us, we are reserving the 8:00 AM worship service for you. Families with younger children might want to consider the 8:45 service in the Fellowship Hall where there will be regular seating as well as seating around tables. Understanding that many members of our family will not be able or comfortable worshiping in person, we will also continue to livestream our service at 10:15. We will continue to evaluate and monitor local conditions and our “reGathering Plan.” Thank you for your continued prayers and patience as changes are possible.
I know you will have plenty of questions. We will provide more specific details prior to June 7th. Please watch for announcements on social media, text messages, emails, and the church website.
As we begin to meet on campus, the following will be our priorities:
- First, our calling to be the church, the living body of Christ, has not changed. We will continue to make Him known in The Golden Triangle and beyond.
- Second, we are prioritizing the Lord’s Day for our gathering. Sunday morning worship will be the only on-campus activities during this phase.
- Third, your safety and the health of our community is a top priority. Our staff team will share with you in the days ahead the precautions we will be taking as we gather.
In closing, allow me to borrow from the words of the Apostle Paul. “For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ” (Philippians 1:8-10). Brothers and sisters, we have a unique opportunity in these days to demonstrate the love of Christ and demonstrate unity as His church (Ephesians 4:3-6). As we gather, whether at home or in person, we are the church, the bride of Christ known as Fairview. I love you. I praise God for each of you.
